Since the Arab Revolutions of 2011, the Southern Region has faced continued instability, impacting both regional and international actors. This highlights the need for stronger cooperative security, with NATO playing a key role in addressing emerging issues beyond present contingencies.

NATO’s partnerships through the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) and the Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) are crucial for fostering cooperation in areas like maritime security and infrastructure protection. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is a valuable example of regional stability.

NATO aims at shifting the narrative from instability to cooperation by countering disinformation and further explaining its role. The opening of the NATO Liaison Office in Amman and the talks with the GCC reflect its adaptability in shaping a better future.

Our upcoming conference will focus on strengthening partnerships and improving NATO’s perception, also among the region’s youth of all countries.
